Highlights - Geopolitical implications of growing military cooperation between China and Russia - Subcommittee on Security and Defence

In the framework of a Public Hearing to be held on 1 March, SEDE Members will exchange views with experts on the geopolitical implications of the growing military cooperation between China and Russia, in particular against the background of Russia's ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine.
The debate will focus on the increasing cooperation on arms and technology transfers, on military exercises between the two countries as well as on the use of hybrid warfare and disinformation campaigns against Western allies and in Europe. SEDE. MEPs will also be briefed on the state of play of the new EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine.

A delegation of AFET Members traveled to Saudi Arabia from 19 to 20 December 2022. The main purpose of the mission of the visit was to assess the EU-Saudi Arabia and EU-GCC relations in the context of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and the dramatic geopolitical changes that have ensued.
In addition, the visit allowed discussing conflicts in the region, particularly the situation in Yemen. Following the publication of the European Commission/European External Action Service Joint Communication on a 'Strategic Partnership with the Gulf', the visit allowed to take stock of the EU's initiatives.
