A Tanács a mai napon megállapodásra jutott a hozzáadottértékadó-mértékekre (héamértékekre) vonatkozó uniós szabályok aktualizálására irányuló javaslatról. Az új szabályok nagyobb rugalmasságot biztosítanak a tagállamok számára a kedvezményes adómértékek és a mentességek alkalmazása terén, valamint egyenlő versenyfeltételeket teremtenek a tagállamok között. A szabályok értelmében továbbá sor kerül majd a környezetkárosító árukra vonatkozó kedvezményes bánásmód fokozatos megszüntetésére.
