The Council presidency and the European Parliament today reached a provisional agreement on the justice programme, which sets out the funding in this area for the period 2021-2027.
EU member states' ambassadors endorsed the provisional agreement reached on 15 December between the Council Presidency and European Parliament's representatives on a regulation setting up the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument.
Funding through this programme aims at protecting rights and values enshrined in the EU treaties in order to sustain open, democratic and inclusive societies.
Following a review under the recommendation on the gradual lifting of the temporary restrictions on non-essential travel into the EU, the Council updated the list of countries for which travel restrictions should be lifted.
The Council imposed restrictive measures against 27 additional individuals, including high-level Belarusian officials, responsible for the ongoing repression and intimidation, as well as against 2 individuals and 7 entities who benefit from their association with and support the Lukashenka regime.
